Healthcare is one of India’s largest sectors, both in revenue and employment. The sector is growing rapidly due to expanding coverage, improved services, and increasing investment from both public and private players.
In 2023, the Indian healthcare industry reached a value of US$ 372 billion, driven by both private sector and government contributions. By 2024, it employs 7.5 million people. Advances in telemedicine, virtual assistants, and data analytics are projected to create an additional 2.7-3.5 million tech jobs.
Public healthcare 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝟮.𝟭% of GDP in FY23 and 2.2% in FY22, up from 1.6% in FY21 (Economic Survey 2022-23).

🔹 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗩𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲: 2,200+ Multi-Speciality Hospitals were established in the last five years; most Preventive Healthcare companies are 5-10 years old.
🔸 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁: The majority of companies across all segments have revenues of under Rs. 1 crore.
🔹 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴: 17,000+ healthcare companies have no secured borrowings.
🔸 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗕𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀: Over 13,000 borrowings secured by Multi-Speciality Hospitals and Preventive Healthcare Services between 2023 and 2024.
